The Chicken Project
The Chicken Project provides families with chickens, feed, and coops, giving them a sustainable source of nutrition and income. Eggs can be sold to cover everyday essentials — groceries, medicines, and school fees. In turn supporting families to work toward self-sufficiency.
Each family taking part stays connected through a shared group chat, where progress is shared, advice is exchanged, and support is offered by experienced members of the community. This connection builds accountability and helps identify where further assistance may be needed.
The project is guided by people with albinism themselves. Emma, who began as one of the first recipients in 2024, coordinates the program on the ground visiting families, helping them care for their chickens, and offering ongoing support and encouragement.
